Luciana Paluzzi

Luciana Paluzzi is one of the many brunettes made into international stars as a result of the Gina Lollobrigida scandal. She was on both sides of Atlantic through the '50s on such films as Three Coins in the Fountain (1954) and Sea Fury (1958), she was. Paluzzi was given a chance to experience American TV stardom in the character in the role of Simone Genet on the 1959 espionage weekly Five Fingers. The year was 1965 when she was invited by Bond producers to discuss the possibility of being considered to play the role of lead Domino Derval's part in Thunderball. Terence Young, the director of the film, suggested giving Fiona Volpe the role as the villain. She was one of the very few women that could not resist the temptation of Mr. Bond and, perhaps as consequence, Fiona is killed on the dance floor by her own partners, who then James deposits her body at an adjacent table, and then asks "Do do you mind if your friend sits it out with me? She's just dead." Luciana Paluzzi was able to keep up her European career in the 1970s by directing the blockbuster. Films such as Captain Nemo & The Underwater City (in 1969), The Six Million Dollar Man (in 1973), The Klansman(in 1974) and The Greek Tycoon were all produced during that time.
